There’s a domain in which God’s sovereignty is experienced and there His word is law and overrules all existing principles or law. The domain of mercy. God is gracious and merciful to us and expects us to also be gracious and merciful to others. Where we don’t relate with others because of what they may or may not have done to and for us.
Matthew 5:7 (KJV)
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
I’m our walk of faith the mercy is needed in our daily dealings. Endeavour to show mercy not because of what it gives you but because you walk in love. Faith without (works of) love is dead.
James 2:20 (TLB)
Fool! When will you ever learn that “believing” is useless without doing what God wants you to? Faith that does not result in good deeds is not real faith.
James 2:20 (AMPC)
Are you willing to be shown [proof], you foolish (unproductive, spiritually deficient) fellow, that faith apart from [good] works is inactive and ineffective and worthless?
Love one another, that’s one of the few commands we have from Jesus. Love those who curse and hurt you. Not forgiving and not walking in love, short-circuits your prayers, and hinders your effectiveness as a Christian. You may get some results but not the kind God has in mind. It creates room for demons to work and operate in your life.
You will be weighed and if you don’t walk in love you are found wanting.
Daniel 5:27 (KJV)
TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting.
Pray for others genuinely not because you want God to do something for you. But because you want them to experience God’s saving power and to prosper, irrespective of what they’ve done to you.
The word of God constantly admonishes us to love everyone as though all of it depends on us.
Romans 12:18 (NIV)
If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Romans 2:1 (ESV)
Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.
Romans 14:3 (KJV)
Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.
Don’t look down upon anyone or despise them. Thank God you know better and try and help them get better. They may be babes and now growing in the things of God, or may be influenced or afflicted by demons. Pray for them and love them!
